Airdate Alert: On PBS, APRIL 19, 2021: Excited to finally be able to announce this!
It was a great pleasure to get the chance to collaborate again with the my friends at The Film Posse to edit this film for the PBS series American Experience about L. Frank Baum, the author behind “The Wizard of Oz.”
The edit began just as pandemic lockdowns, etc. started, but with about 1/3 of the interviews still to be conducted it made for a challenging process. Fortunately I had worked with Randall MacLowry, Tracy Heather Strain, and Rebecca Taylor before on the films “Lorraine Hansberry: Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart” and for American Experience “The Battle of Chosin” so we were all comfortable jumping into our respective creative roles, even with the continuous uncertainty of the past year. I hope you’ll be able to check it out – it was really fascinating to learn about Baum, who led an intriguing and varied life, writing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and achieving international acclaim at the age of 44.
Please visit the film’s page, it will be updated as the release date nears. Additional Material and trailer coming soon. The film will air nationwide on PBS and also be available on their streaming platforms, check your local listings for broadcast times:

“You have plenty of courage, I am sure,” answered Oz. “All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid, and that kind of courage you have in plenty.”
― L. Frank Baum
